The Original Sin

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned

(Romans 5:12) NKJV

The original sin is the reason why God cursed the Earth, but it isn’t the reason for why the creation is in a fallen state. A lot of people haven’t grasped this, because how can the two things be different?

The universe was created by fusing protons (H+) which caused light to appear. This is the nucleosynthesis part of the Big Bang theory and it has a strong scriptural basis which gives us a Biblical context to understand the cosmic microwave background radiation (CMBR). The downside to this is that, in every fusion reaction, one of the protons looses its light and becomes a neutron. This is the corruption inherent in creation. It’s as fundamental as subatomic physics.

This the heavenly picture of the earthly Jesus Christ becoming sin for us. Christ dying on the cross of Calvary is the symbolism that we need to understand the spiritual implications of what happened, but the physics is that half of the protons which would become the universe died and gave up their light. The universe was created in a fallen state in order to manifest free will. Having free will means that people can choose to be evil, in which case the universe has to be constructed in such a way that evil is possible.

Obviously this wasn’t Adam and Eve’s fault.

For a fire is kindled in My anger, And shall burn to the lowest hell; It shall consume the earth with her increase, And set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

(Deuteronomy 32:22) NKJV

Nuclear Decay

The consequences of original sin were profound. God cursed the Earth and withdrew his presence which caused nuclear decay to begin.

When God finished his creative work in six days he was satisfied with the result and said that it was very good. The system was maintained by the power and presence of God, who walked in the garden in the cool of the day to have fellowship with the people that he had made in his image. There was no death. The system was completely stable. There were no unstable elements emitting radiation.

As good as this creation was, impurity was part of it’s essential nature. It’s an unavoidable consequence of the physics of matter. This is the reason for the tree of knowledge: the physical world has impurity in it that will manifest as evil.

Why were Adam and Eve punished if they didn’t know the difference between good and evil before they ate the fruit? The answer is that they knew right from wrong, because they were told what to do and what not to do. Knowing right from wrong can be innocent, knowing good from evil requires an understanding of context.

When sin entered the world God put a curse on the Earth: nuclear decay. It was exponential but most of the heavy atomic weight elements were concentrated in the core of the Earth, and it melted. Adam and Eve began dying. Radiation caused genetic mutations to occur and the process of devolution began. As successive generations came along they had greater and greater levels of genetic damage, causing a precipitous drop in longevity and a whole host of diseases as we see today.

This is our fallen nature. There’s no escape from it. When the Bible says that we’re born in sin, this is what it’s talking about. We are born into a physical system that’s in rapid decline.
