Scripture includes a description of the deposition of Precambrian sediment in response to the creation of gravity on the 2nd day. That may seem far-fetched, but it's an example of Biblical exposition.
The Core Accretion Model
They key to understanding the inception of gravity as the creative act of the second day is the synchronicity between stretching out the heavens and establishing the foundations of the Earth. One command did both.
Sedimentary, My Dear Watson
Floods leave deposits of sediment. Over time sediment can become rock. If animals and plants are trapped in the sediment they become fossils. Sedimentary rock covers about 70% of the earth's surface.
August 1st
Precambrian formations were deposited on the 2nd day in response to the creation of gravity. The fossils represent the aquatic life which developed on the 1st day of creation. They were not deposited in Noah's flood.
Life Began in Zero-G
There are three things that we use to deduce that gravity as created on the 2nd day, which means that the during first day, and the time before it, there was no gravity in the universe.
Depositional Environments
Interesting thing about fossils: Fossils don't just record evidence of ancient life, they also show us clues about what the environment was like when the fossil was made, or deposited.
The Second Day
On the second day the formless watery mass of the deep, which teemed with life created on the first day, was ordered. The ordering was to fulfill the requirement for a permanent separation of light and dark.On the second day the formless mass of the deep, which teemed with life created on the first day, was ordered.
