And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
(Genesis 1:6-8) KJV
One of our favorite ways to study the Bible is to follow a doctrine through from the first time it’s mentioned to the last. This is a great way to develop understanding of the doctrine in the broad narrative of scripture.
We’re going to deduce the existence of the missing mass of the universe by doing a type of Bible study called a rabbit trail. We’re going to start at the beginning of the Bible and look at every place the word firmament occurs. Then, with what we have learned about what the word firmament means, we’re going to work our way back to the beginning of the Bible, doing a contextual analysis, looking at everything which appears to be a reference to the same thing even though the word firmament isn’t used. By the time we get done it should be very clear that the Bible accounts for the missing mass of the universe, whereas popular science (SciPop) doesn’t.
Oddly enough, Creationists don’t believe that any of these passages refer to a rigid crystalline structure. They would much rather tear you apart for saying that they are, while defending the SciPop cosmological model which, as you should know by now, is designed by atheists to make the Bible look stupid.
Now there’s more than one Bible which has the word firmament in Genesis 1:6. However, let’s see how many Bibles can follow this rabbit trail and find the missing 90% of the mass of the universe AND give an origin for the Iridium Anomaly at the Cretaceous/Tertiary boundary. Here are the keywords that we need to take note of:
Key words:
- waters above
- midst of the waters
- waters under
