And all flesh died that moved on the earth: birds and cattle and beasts and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man. All in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, all that was on the dry land, died. So He destroyed all living things which were on the face of the ground: both man and cattle, creeping thing and bird of the air. They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah and those who were with him in the ark remained alive. And the waters prevailed on the earth one hundred and fifty days.(Genesis 7:21-24) NKJV
A world-wide anoxic extinction event above the Cretaceous/Tertiary boundary is a logical outcome of the worlds ecosystems decomposing in the waters of Noah’s flood.
We can connect the fossil evidence of a mass extinction anoxic event with Noah’s flood through a line of reasoning based on this simple observation: if Noah’s flood was a flood of water on the Earth, why are there the remains of so many fish in the fossil record? Why would fish be killed in a flood of water?
We all have the same evidence. Our choice of paradigm determines what we think it’s evidence of.– Matty’s Razor
Fish need oxygen, they just don’t breathe the air. There’s normally enough Oxygen dissolved in water for fish to do gaseous exchange through their gills. There are however situations where there’s not enough Oxygen dissolved in water. If there’s a lot of organic matter decomposing it depletes the dissolved oxygen because it’s being used by the microbes as they break down the organic matter.
If all terrestrial life was buried in flood debris for about a year then we could reasonably anticipate that the organic material material would decompose. As you may expect, since we’re dealing with the Word of God, that’s exactly what we find in the fossil record.
The Cenomanian-Turonian boundary event, or the Cenomanian-Turonian extinction event, the Cenomanian-Turonian anoxic event, and referred also as the Bonarelli event, was one of two anoxic extinction events in the Cretaceous period.– Wikipedia
The Iridium layer was deposited when the rain from heaven ended. This was at the beginning of a period of almost a year when the waters of Noah’s flood were upon the Earth. At this time suspended sediment began to settle out and form layers on top of the debris that was deposited in the initial flooding event, the deluge phase. This is the reason why it’s obvious that there’s something different about before and after the boundary.
We need to be sure we have the sequence of deposition right as we build our hypothesis. We have to understand the evidence well enough to be sure that our narrative accurately reflects the timeline of events during the flood. We found an example of a scholarly article which gives us the stratigraphic arrangement of the Iridium layer in relation to the evidence of an anoxic extinction. If we’re right then the Iridium should have been deposited before (below) the fish began dying due to a lack of Oxygen.
