Newton’s Third Law of Motion
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die;
(Ecclesiastes 3:1-8) ESV
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace.
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven,” from Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 is a clear statement of Newton’s third law of motion, and it describes the relationship of cause and effect.
Law III: To every action there is always opposed an equal reaction: or the mutual actions of two bodies upon each other are always equal, and directed to contrary parts.
Newton’s Third Law Of Motion
“And God said,” in Genesis 1:3 was the energy necessary to cause the deep, which was the mass of the entire universe, to undergo let light be nucleosynthesis (LLBN). Theoretically, in a closed thermodynamic system this energy is still available. It’s the power of God.
We (that’s me and the Holy spirit) have developed the nuance in meaning that let light be means God caused light to appear. The light on the first day of creation is the effect of something else happening. We have related this to nucleosynthesis and the fusion of Hydrogen, but what caused that to happen? This illustrates three critical weakness in the Big Bang speculation.
Failures of the Big Bang Speculation
- There’s no source of Hydrogen,
- There’s no source for the energy to cause Hydrogen fusion,
- The bang is an effect, not the cause.
The Source of Hydrogen
Scientists predict that nucleosynthesis began fractions of a second after the Big Bang but, logically, nucleosynthesis is the cause of the Big Bang, rather than an effect of it. Genesis 1:2 gives us the source of Hydrogen as the deep. Meanwhile the Big Bang theory hasn’t figured out which came first, the chicken or the egg?
Ironic, isn’t it? Science not only predicted conditions necessary for the Big Bang nucleosynthesis, which just happens to be met by Genesis 1:2, but it also predicted the necessity of a very loud noise, as in Genesis 1:3.
The Energy for Fusion
Hydrogen atoms are the smallest atomic nuclei and they are combined together in fusion reactions to form all of the other atomic nuclei. Light is an effect of fusing Hydrogen atoms. The fusion of Hydrogen atoms is an effect of what? It’s a reaction, it happens in response to an action. The question is, what caused the Hydrogen to fuse in the first place?
Fusion reactors have yet to produce the much vaunted limitless supply of cheap clean energy because, so far, the energy required to cause fusion is more than the energy released by fusion. The point where [ energy in = energy out ] is called breakeven. Where did this energy come from? Where is it now?
The condition of Q = 1, when the power being released by the fusion reactions is equal to the required heating power, is referred to as breakeven, or in some sources, scientific breakeven.

In his elemental form God has more energy than everything we can see and then some. The light on the first day wasn’t some precursor to the sun, but rather, the deep burst into light. The whole universe was full of light. This gives us the origin of the cosmic microwave background radiation (CMBR).
Effect not Cause
Understanding cause and effect, the essence of logic and reason, is critical in successfully deducing how the Bible can account for all of the physical evidence and our empirical observations of the universe. We’ve also observed a syndrome of behavior in which the relationship between cause and effect is either ignored or deliberately reversed is a symptom of something which the Bible refers to as a “reprobate mind.” For this reason our discussion of this issue as part of the devotional for today.
