O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge—by professing it some have strayed concerning the faith. Frace be with you. Amen.(1 Timothy 6:20-21) NKJV
Continuing the theme of weird things that people say on social media there’s another question which comes up from time to time which pertains to Jesus’ teaching on hell.
If hell is expanding, why isn’t the earth getting bigger?– Someone trying to sound clever.
Good question. Well, not really. It’s a knee-jerk response by someone who’s learned how to oppose anything and everything without understanding it (Twitterpawns). We refer to it as superficial theology: someone has zero knowledge of religious subject matter but they’re delusional enough to think that they can make it look as if they’re an expert. We compiled a series of specific examples and they can be seen at our page, Does God Lie in the Bible?
Our premise is: “God can’t lie and the Bible is true.” Naturally people are going to attack it. Bring it on.
The expansion of hell isn’t causing the expansion of Earth because Jesus establishes the doctrine of the great gulf. This is a region of open space inside the Earth between the lower mantle and the surface of the core. This is where popular science (SciPop) has the liquid outer core. Both models of the interior of the Earth are derived from the same seismological data. We apply Matty’s razor: we all have exactly the same evidence. We can illustrate the difference between Biblical seismology and SciPop seismology.
The existence of a liquid outer core is an untestable hypothesis which means that it’s not scientific. The atheist intellectual elites over at peer review, who don’t want there to be a hell, say don’t worry about it. They can rubber stamp anything they want.
