“Subtropical climates with heavy rainfall supported distinctive forests in northern and southern latitudes.” This is another example of the circular reasoning which lies at the very heart of the geological timescale.
A specific ecosystem, habitat or plant community had widespread distribution because it formed in a particular range of altitude and aspect in the antediluvian Earth. Every time the remains of this habitat are found preserved as fossils they’re assigned to the Eocene. The prevalence of angiosperms and mammals in the deposits is consistent with the designation of “modern” according to THE NARRATIVE of evolution. Therefore the Eocene is considered to be recent. It’s circular reasoning.
