Eternal Torment

And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

(Revelation 20:10) KJV

The eternal torment referred to by the Bible doesn’t take place in hell, which is temporarily in the center of the Earth, there’s another location: a lake of fire and brimstone in outer darkness.

This is, however, in stark contrast to the current situation. Right now heaven is a sphere of rigid crystal on the edge of space which shines brightly as the sun, the firmament. Presently there’s no outer darkness, there’s outer light. This is going to change. During the tribulation the firmament will roll up like a scroll and the stars will fall to Earth. At the end of the Age there will be a new heaven and a new Earth, and a New Jerusalem will come down from heaven and that’s where we’re going to live. That’s when there will be outer darkness.

The lake of fire has to exist throughout this process which is why we’re considering that Venus is a possible candidate. It can store the beast and false prophet during the millennial kingdom, and then be cast off into outer darkness.

The interesting thing about outer darkness is a phenomenon known as gravitational time dilation. The closer we are to the gravitational singularity at the center of the Earth, the slower time passes. That’s going to be great for those of us in the New Jerusalem. However, time passes more quickly the further away from it that you go. If Venus is the lake of fire which is cast off into the far reaches of space, then the passage of time is going to accelerate as it continues to recede away from Earth. Eternity is going to take longer and longer in proportion to the distance from Earth. No wonder they’re gnashing their teeth.
