The Reason for Hell

And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

(Luke 16:23) KJV

A lot of people are troubled by the question, if God is loving why would he send people to hell? Making the case for why is quite involved and most people will simply tune out and decide that they don’t need a God like that. To their peril.

We’re able to put this in a new perspective because we know the purpose of creation and by having an absolute frame of reference, a Biblical theory of gravity and a clearly defined definition of the soul.

Creation has to be purified which is why all of the corruption and impurity has been gathered together by gravity as a molten ball of radioactive slag at the center of the universe. The ironic twist here is that the center of the Earth is where our souls begin their existence. God’s love propels us away from the center of the Earth so that we can experience life on the surface. This is our opportunity to respond to God’s revealed truth in the person of Jesus Christ.

We’re given the choice: do we want to continue upwards to heaven or fall back down to hell? Making the choice is as simple as accepting Jesus Christ as our savior.

This means that the reason for hell is a simple physical function. It doesn’t have any bearing on a supposed angry God who wants to punish those who don’t love him. Those emotions are there, for sure, but we’ve taken salvation and redemption into the realm of physics and can show that the Lord is justified. Hell is both the beginning and the default outcome. God could have just left us in hell, but sent his only begotten Son to die on the cross at Calvary so that we may have a better outcome.

The reason for hell is: temporary storage of the accumulated impurity and corruption of creation. It’s a function of of gravity and it’s required for the purification of creation.

The reason for hell aligns with the function of planet Earth. This isn’t coincidental, they’re both inherent to the broad narrative of scripture and the plan of redemption, and we’re able to deduce these conclusions because we have an absolute frame of reference.

The function of the Earth has two parts: a) to provide a place for sentient beings to make a choice between light or darkness, good or evil; b) to serve as the collection point for all those who choose darkness and evil.
