Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection? It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know?
(Job 11:7-8) KJV
Hell is down, deep and below; heaven is up, high and above. There are many examples in scripture which are consistent with this orientation. Hell is never referred to as above, heaven is never referred to as below.
The orientation of creation is directly related to the creation of gravity on the second day when an absolute frame of reference in time and space were established. It became the location of a gravitational singularity. It’s a fixed point in time because, at the singularity, time isn’t passing. It stopped. The further away from the singularity you go, the faster time passes. This is where we get the phenomenon of gravitational time dilation (GTD).
The gravitational singularity is referred to in scripture as the foundation of the Earth. It’s a fixed point in space because it’s been established and it’s not going anywhere.
