Giving and Receiving

Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only. For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity. Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

(Philippians 4:15-20) KJV

This is the often quoted passage about how my God shall supply your every need. It’s used as a band aid to give hope to desperate people, but it’s not given in the context of desperation. The context is Paul thanking the Philippian church for their financial support. The message is: God is helping you because you’re helping me to promote the gospel and advance the kingdom of heaven. This is why we give selflessly.

This has bearing on our discussion of the difference between Agape gravity vs. Mosaic gravity and Z vs. W bosons.

  • IF A (Agape gravity) is anti-gravity, a force propelling us up to heaven,
    • Z bosons
  • AND M (Mosaic gravity) is a force pulling us down into the core of the Earth,
    • W bosons
  • THEN is there something in our nature which changes Z bosons into W bosons which is affecting our outcome and whether we go to heaven or hell?
  • IF there is, what would it be?
    • AND, perhaps more importantly, how do we stop it?

There’s a simple answer, of course: if you want to go to heaven believe in Jesus Christ. The practical application for us is that selfless giving has a spiritual and a physical component. Spiritually, Jesus Christ is the power to transform us and give us everlasting life. Physically, we can affect the rate that Z bosons are changed into W bosons by letting go of the things that we’re trying so hard to possess.

Salvation

  1. Call upon the name of Jesus Christ,
    • believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead,
  2. confess your sin.

June 13 (14) – Giving and Receiving

We overcome the power of the law (M) by being quickened (q) through faith in Jesus Christ. We have to be willing to let go of everything the world has to offer (pG), and ready to allow the Lord to sustain us.
