My guilt overwhelms me— it is a burden too heavy to bear.(Psalms 38:4) NLT
Guilt is the fact of having committed a breach of conduct especially violating law and involving a penalty, the state of one who has committed an offense especially consciously, feelings of deserving blame especially for imagined offenses or from a sense of inadequacy, a feeling of deserving blame for offenses.– Guilt, definition (Merriam-Webster)
We can all relate to the definition of guilt. We may feel guilt, a feeling of deserving blame for offenses, but the reason why we feel it is because of the fact of having committed a breach of conduct. It is a fact that we’re all sinners.
But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,(Romans 3:21-23) NKJV
Fortunately that’s not the end of the story.
being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.(Romans 3:24-26) NKJV
