Let’s Attack Hell

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

(Matthew 16:18) KJV

If the gates of hell won’t prevail against the church, and gates are defensive structures, then the church must be attacking hell.

Matty’s Paradigm started at Open Door Baptist Church, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in October 2015. We preached a message entitled “Who wants to attack hell with me?” This was the very beginning of our declared objective of using social media to reach people with the message of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. The message is based around a simple premise which other Bible scholars somehow missed:

Gates are defensive structures. Gates can’t attack anything.

– Matty, wondering if theologians can walk and chew gum at the same time.

We all have the same evidence. Our choice of paradigm determines what we think it’s evidence of.

Established Doctrine/Theological Commentary

As of this time there’s no established doctrine of hell, as ridiculous as that may sound. It’s been replaced by theological commentary. As such the party line is: steadfast refusal to acknowledge the reality of hell. Current theology is an inductive rationalization of this premise. The usual suspect, textual criticism, has been the facilitator.

Hell is a real place. This is something that Christians, even conservative evangelicals, don’t want to hear. They’re as snug as a bug in a rug: comfortably nestled in theology which has been induced to make the Bible look tolerable, in a paradigm which has been induced to make it look stupid: mainstream science (SciPop).

Every commentary that we looked at claimed that the phrase “the gates of hell will not prevail,” means that “the church will withstand all the attacks and machinations of the devil,” but that’s the opposite of what the passage says. The passage doesn’t say that the church will prevail against attacks. It says that the gates of hell will not prevail against attacks. If the gates of hell will not prevail, then who’s attacking the gates? In the context, it has to be the church.

Failing to comprehend the correct relationship between cause and effect is a symptom of a reprobate mind. Judging from the disproportionately high number of theological commentaries which are based on a deliberate reversal of cause and effect, it would seem that a lot of theological commentary has been written by reprobates.

Faith is believing in something that you can’t see, because of evidence.

Prevailing Attitudes

The prevailing attitude is that hell is out-dated mythology used by the religious establishment of old to maintain their position of power. It’s regarded as exploitative pastoral abuse: another way for rich people to oppress poor people under the guise of religion. That’s ground zero for atheists and Christians alike, the ones who are throwing off the shackles of oppression.

People everywhere looked at the lead taken by popular science (SciPop) and decided that it was safe to forget about hell. Christianity followed suit. Now look what happened: most people think that Christianity is irrelevant, and we have a generation of Christians who think that it’s not politically correct to submit to God.

What’s a Poor Prophet to DO?

We don’t waste time with commentaries.
We ignore prevailing attitudes.

Hell is a Real Place

Hardly anyone believes in hell anymore, certainly no one who is “educated.” Fortunately there are still a few people left who have more faith than education. A hellfire and damnation sermon by Pastor Don Hackett, in October 2015, spurred us into action.

Don readily admits to being an uneducated man who lasted one week in theological seminary, which he quit because the people he met there were being trained for careers in ministry. Don didn’t want a career in ministry, he wanted to be a preacher. The difference isn’t subtle. The ranks of the pastorate around America and the world are filled with people who thought that it was a sound career choice: indoor work with no heavy lifting. We’re going to do some heavy lifting and probably scare some of those people off.

Why were we, me and the Holy spirit, in a non-descript church in 2015 listening to the last man in America who had the guts and passion to warn people about hell?
It’s all part of God’s plan.

Hell is a real place and it solves a variety of issues which are thorns in the side of Creationists, simply because they can’t commit to whether or not hell is a real place. It gives us three predictive testable hypotheses: 5 ocean warming and hell expanding, 10 variable nuclear decay and 13 the existence of the soul.
