Pangaea
And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
(Genesis 11:1-2, 8-9) KJV
It’s an accepted belief in mainstream science (SciPop) that, at some time in the past, all of the continents were part of one super-continent. This is known as Pangaea.
After Noah’s flood we’re given the account of Noah’s family. Over a few generations this produced a population of people. God’s will was that the people should spread out over the face of the Earth and subdue it. The people had a different idea and decided to stay in one place and build a city, it was called Babel.
We all have the same evidence. Our choice of paradigm determines what we think it’s evidence of.
– Matty’s Razor
Since SciPop has studied the continental landmasses and deduced that they were once part of a super-continent, and the presence of this continent for a period of time after the flood gives us what we need to make the devolution narrative work, it’s something that aligns harmoniously in either paradigm, SciPop or Matty’s. Therefore the existence of Pangaea can be considered to be a fact. We (that’s me and the Holy spirit) combine the processes of devolution (genetic change over time) with plate tectonics (the movement of continental landmasses) into Hypothesis 35.
Devolution is the process of genetic change over time by which the animal kinds saved on Noah’s ark gave rise to the current distribution of biodiversity.
– Devolution, context
God confounded our language as a way to get the people to disperse around the globe abroad upon the face of all the Earth. This was possible because Pangaea was a single super-continent. Pangaea broke apart 101 years after Noah’s flood in a upheaval we refer to as Peleg’s tectonics. God caused people and animals to spread out after Noah’s flood, but before the breakup of Pangaea. The Earth became populated. Peleg’s tectonics and the process of devolution combine in Hypothesis 35.
