Fire and Brimstone

Then the LORD rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from the LORD out of the heavens.

(Genesis 19:24) NKJV

If the lake of fire exists at the time when the Millennial Kingdom begins, right after the tribulation which could start at any time, does the lake of fire exist now? If so, where is it?

We all have the same evidence. Our choice of paradigm determines what we think it’s evidence of.

Matty’s Razor

At the time when the Lord returns to establish the Millennial Kingdom we know of two things that are going to happen:

  1. The beast and false prophet are cast into the lake of fire, and
  2. Satan is cast into the bottomless pit for 1,000 years.

At the end of the 1,000 years Satan is briefly set free before being cast into the lake of fire. Eventually hell itself is cast into the lake of fire. Last of all, all of the souls that were in hell will be brought out, judged, and cast into the lake of fire.

There’s clearly a transition taking place as the physical waste of this universe is transferred from hell, the center, to a remote location: the lake of fire. It will drift off into deep space for ever. This gives us an understanding of outer darkness.

One more thread which we can weave into this narrative is the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, which contains strikingly similar language to the description of the lake of fire. If Venus is the lake of fire, then we have a provenance for the fire and brimstone which rained down on Sodom and Gomorrah. By a totally staggering coincidence, Sodom and Gomorrah gives us a segway into the discussion of LGBTQIA+ issues. We were asked the question: Can someone be redeemed and gay? We’re going to use deduction to pick our way through this and see what we come up with.

Salvation

  1. Call upon the name of Jesus Christ,
    • believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead,
  2. confess your sin.
