Evidence is Irrelevant

This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering

(2 Thessalonians 1:5) ESV

The physical world that we can see is evidence of its past. A fossil skull, for example, is proof that something happened at an earlier time. What we think it’s evidence of is based on our point of view.

This is your choice of paradigm. If you’ve decided that origin of species by Evolution is true, then the skull becomes evidence for Evolution. If we’ve decided that the Bible is true, then the skull becomes evidence for creation.

In mathematics, when the same figure occurs on both sides of an equation it cancels itself out, it’s irrelevant. Therefore, rather than argue which interpretation of the evidence is correct, let’s make the evidence irrelevant and admit that the difference is our personal bias.

There’s really only one question that needs to be asked: Do you believe God? God testifies that He can’t lie, and that his word is true. If you believe God then you believe that Jesus Christ was God in human-form, who sacrificed himself to set us free from sin. When you believe that Jesus Christ is your savior you receive the gift of everlasting life, and the Holy Spirit will dwell within you.

If you don’t believe God your fate is very different. Denying Christ as your savior will mean that you can’t be received into the Kingdom of God. The tragic consequence is that the only place for your soul to exist is the burning pit of hell, which was originally intended for rebellious angels. You have the free will to choose your outcome.

We choose to believe the Bible out of gratitude to God for our life and to Jesus Christ for our salvation. Evidence has nothing to do with it. However, now that we’ve made this choice we can let the Holy Spirit help us to understand evidence.
