The deep existed in the beginning, before God began to create the universe as we know it. This means that creation isn't Ex nihilo, it's Ex abyssi. It's obvious but everyone else missed it completely.

Some people believe that Genesis 1:1 is a subheading which bookmarks the beginning of creation, not as a creative act. However, some people believe that it was a separate creative act.
Tares Among Wheat
The purpose of creation is to give life with free will to all souls. God created companions to fellowship with, but he is not going to force anyone to spend eternity with him. You have the free will to choose.
Why Hast Thou Forsaken Me?
IF earthly things are patterned after heavenly, AND Christ's sacrifice on the cross is patterned after the sacrifice God made on the 1st day, THEN Christ's cry is patterned after the scream when the water molecules split.
The Word is Water
We (that's me and the Holy spirit) deduce the true nature of water. It's safe to say, which is to say it's Biblically accurate, that water existed before God began the work of creation.
Water into Wine
The first act that God performed in the Genesis account of creation was nucleosynthesis. It would appear that the first recorded public miracle of Jesus was also nucleosynthesis, when Jesus turned water in to wine.
Water
If you've ever studied biology, biochemistry or chemistry you may have noticed that practically all introductory textbooks in those subjects have a chapter on water at or near the beginning. It's obligatory.
Is the Bible Literal or Figurative?
We can test the Bible against itself, and we can test the Bible against physical evidence and scientific knowledge. This is also how we can test whether scientific knowledge is real or imaginary.
Deep Water
It sounds like a script for an episode of Star Trek or an entry in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. However, this is our reality. We still haven't unraveled the mystery of what water IS though.
October 23rd
The Word of God, Jesus Christ, and the deep are the same person, and this resolves an issue regarding the initial state of creation. The issue is whether or not there was a creation before this one.
