The parallels between light and good vs. darkness and evil are stated throughout scripture. Isaiah laments people who try to make you believe that good is evil and evil is good, and who put darkness for light.
The Father of Lights
The phrase "the father of lights," is sweet and poetic. It's spiritually accurate in identifying two roles of God the Father. It's also accurate physics.

A Crown of Life
What is the Crown of Life? Eternal life.
Great is Thy Faithfulness
It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

In the broad narrative of scripture the separation of light and darkness isn't a cycle from day to night. It's the prevailing theme of the Bible but this separation has to be physical and permanent.
