Darkness
People think that the theory of relativity is summed up in the equation E=MC2 . The truth is, relativity is an opportunistic rationalization of circumstantial evidence, and E=MC2 specifies a set of conditions which don't occur anywhere in nature.
When God said, let light be, the sacrificial lamb was slain from the foundation of the world. That's why it went dark at the end of the first day, the second occurrence of darkness that we have to account for called night.
Light and darkness have to be separated because the manifestation of free will is only possible by combining them.
Another picture that we have which is part of the symbolism of Christ on the cross is that darkness came upon the world in the middle of the day. Things on Earth are patterned after things in the heavens.
The nature of free will is such that an individual can choose light or darkness. How can there be free will unless a choice is available? The Lord had to create a universe in which darkness exists.
On rare occasions we encounter someone who has an inkling of what we're doing, harmonizing science with the Bible, and they ask an intelligent question about it. The intelligent question was this:
