Christian Atheists

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

(Galatians 6:7) NKJV

A competing strategy to the dogmatic Evangelical, which arose in response to the rise of popular science (SciPop) and its sidekick textual criticism, is the Christian Atheist.

You can pin this badge on any and every liberal church where the name of Jesus Christ is proclaimed but they don’t believe the Bible. Technically speaking they’re saved because they believe in Jesus Christ, so we really don’t want to start a fight with them, but their worldview is exactly the same as the average atheist.

They believe: that the Earth is an insignificant speck orbiting another insignificant speck which is drifting through an infinite cosmos; that the Earth is 4.6 billions of years old and humans evolved from slime; that many world cultures including the Babylonians and Chinese predate Noah’s flood (which was a localized event); while preaching sociology in front of a rock band. They sound exactly like atheists. Try and explain to them that the Bible actually means what it actually says and they’re just as condescending as atheists too.

And then they wonder why the world doesn’t care.

It’s a tragic case because many of these folk are genuine Christians who are full of love and compassion for their fellow man, they love planet Earth and they are involved in every kind of good work in their community and around the world, but they are wringing their hands over a sense of ineffectiveness and failure.

The world doesn’t care because they are preaching the world’s message. It’s not new, different or challenging. They became a carbon-copy of the world in order to gain acceptance. Now they think that their communities are indifferent to the gospel. They failed to understand the principle that you reap what you sow. They reap indifference because they sow indifference.

If, however, they were to preach that hell is expanding, it’s the cause of global warming, they might just find that their communities are highly volatile.
