And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.
(James 3:6) NKJV
There’s a New Testament confirmation of the event described in Deuteronomy 32:22 when the fire of hell was kindled and nuclear decay began. Here we’re told that the tongue, the serpent beguiling Eve and Adam blaming his wife, set on fire the course of nature which in this case means melting the core of the Earth.
The last phrase of the passage above, and it is set on fire of hell, doesn’t quite make sense until we look at the Greek. Naturally the translators rendered what made sense to them under inspiration of the Holy Spirit, but we know that the Holy Spirit is the master of putting accurate physics in plain sight where nobody can see it.
We can translate the Greek as: and setting on fire under hell. What could be under hell but the center of the Earth? It’s also referred to as the lowest hell. We have a more detailed exposition of James 3:6 in the series which analyses all scriptural references to the expansion of hell.

Sets on Fire the Course of Nature
And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.
The tongues, of Adam, Eve and the serpent set on fire the course of nature because it’s the reason why nuclear decay started and the core of the Earth began to melt. The expansion of hell can be traced through scripture and it’s a direct causal factor in all of the major cataclysmic upheavals throughout history.
Sets on fire: ฯฮปฮฟฮณฮฏฮถฮฟฯ ฯฮฑ – phlogizousa
- to ignite, set on fire,
- I inflame, fire with passion, set on fire, burn up,
- in figurative discourse, to operate destructively, have a most pernicious power,
- From phlox; to cause a blaze.

History
The Biblical history of hell expanding is such a large and well developed doctrine throughout the Bible that itโs fascinating that no one has developed it.
Salvation
- Call upon the name of Jesus Christ,
- believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead,
- confess your sin.
