Corollary I

All Life is One

Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

(John 4:10) KJV

Our life could be summarized through how we (that’s me and the Holy spirit) acquired our favorite books. Some of you can relate. Miracles happened to bring certain books into our possession.

We need two of them to help with the first Corollary. Both came to us in the same adventure. We were a graduate student in Biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the spring of 1992. That semester we were a teaching assistant for Biology 43 – Local Flora. The circumstances brought us into contact with two books which from which we’ll use quotes to help make our point.

  1. Blueprint for a Cell (1991), by Nobel Laureate Christian DeDuve.
  2. Principles of Biochemistry (1993), by Horton et. al.

If all life is one then firstly we have understand and define life. That’s to say we’ll consider the biological definition of life and compare it to what the Bible considers to be living. All life is made from the same periodic table of elements, all life is derived from water, and all life is sustained by energy from Hydrogen. Chlorophyll captures the energy of H+ fusing in the sun.

This relates directly to the Biblical account of creation because Hydrogen nuclei (H+) in the deep were fused to construct the periodic table of elements. The power of metabolism (H+) is a picture of the power of He who created life (H+). In the beginning this generated light. The elements which formed have been combined into molecules which are common throughout all matter. The matter has been used to create life. The creation of life was systematic, beginning with simple forms then becoming successively more complex. This is the pattern revealed to us in nature. Abiogenesis. It has nothing to do with evolution which is the passage of heritable traits from generation to generation.
