Pleistocene

Out of the south cometh the whirlwind: and cold out of the north. By the breath of God frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is straitened.

(Job 37:9-10) KJV

The Pleistocene is directly before what the geological timescale calls “present day.” It includes the ice age, or sequence of ice ages, depending on how contrived you make THE NARRATIVE.

Paleobotany and the evolution of plants

We’re studying the periods of geological history as described by Wilson N. Stewart.

This was the text book we used in grad school when we studied for a masters of science in Biology.

PLEISTOCENE
Several advances and retreats of continental ice sheets, accompanied by some elevation of continents and draining of major synclines. Redistribution of floras reflecting advances and retreats of glaciers. Wooly mammoth and giant bisons. Appearance of modern man.

Wilson N. Stewart, Paleobotany and the evolution of plants.

Depending on how you want to describe the Pleistocene it could be considered to be in the Quaternary Period, or the Late Cenozoic Era. That’s how much fudge has been built into the system. It’s entirely relative. Be that as it may, the Quaternary/Pleistocene is the catchall for all of the remnants of glaciation in the Northern Hemisphere which haven’t been assigned to the Permian (glaciation at the equator and in the Southern Hemisphere).

Each of the geological Eras, Periods and Epochs have technically accurate descriptions of the evidence. However, they’re not different events in history, they’re the same event Noah’s flood.
