Faith in Upheaval

There was Never, Ever, Nothing

By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.

(Hebrews 11:3) ESV

It may sound odd to hear this, but a conclusion which we deduce by resolving the Holy Trinity with particle physics is that…

… there was never, ever, nothing.

As such, we have to debunk the notion that God created the universe from nothing, a false doctrine known as Ex nihilo. There’s not a shred of evidence anywhere in the Bible that this is what God intended us to learn from scripture. God made it perfectly clear that He created the universe by becoming it, in the person of God the Son, Jesus Christ, who later walked the Earth as Jesus of Nazareth.

Once we get this settled, that God didn’t break the laws of physics but, in fact, the laws of physics are a natural result of the manner in which God created, then we can get into the issue of WHY? Why did God create the universe? We’re not going to hold you in suspense and make you wade through a year-long devotional to find out.

Why did God create the universe?
The answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything:

God created the universe so that sentient beings with free will could make a choice between light or darkness, life or death.

The Answer to Life, the Universe and Everything

Free Will

See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil.

I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live,

(Deuteronomy 30:15, 19) ESV

God could have created a perfect world from nothing, and He could have made perfectly pure companions who would never disobey him.

He didn’t, He created a corrupted world from water. Why?

Establishing a relationship between cause and effect is part of manifesting free will.

If cause produces a related effect, then any choice that we make has consequences. Teaching people to understand what the choices are, and the consequences of making them, is the mission that God gave to all Christians.

Parents

Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.

(Exodus 20:12) ESV

Before we get into the meat of this message, it’s me Mum’s birthday. January 12th. Parents are important. None of us could be who we are without them. Letโ€™s remember the 5th commandment (above).
