A Space Between

God was pleased with what he saw. Then he separated the light from the darkness,

(Genesis 1:4) Good News Translation

The permanent physical separation of light from darkness, good from evil, starts by causing darkness to accumulate at the center of creation. It’s what we’re made of. Light is on the periphery.

God is perpetual light. His plan is that he will dwell in perpetual light. It was, therefore, necessary to gather the light and darkness into separate areas and place a space between them. Night fell at the end of the first day, the following morning God began his plan to permanently separate light from darkness. Separated the light from the darkness means to place a space between them. This is the meaning of the word from, translated from the Hebrew bayin.

Michelangelo, Separation of Light from Darkness

What physical force could cause light and darkness to draw themselves apart as opposites? Truth and light are functional equivalents, as are evil and darkness. In physical terms, based on taking the command let there be light as the trigger for nucleosynthesis, matter which contains or causes darkness is any atomic nuclei which includes neutrons. Basically all of them except Hydrogen – that we know of.

On the second day God created a force which repelled light particles away and attracted dark particles in. This is what we refer to as gravity, but what we call gravity is the effect, not the cause. We discuss the Biblical doctrine of gravity at length in the daily devotional for February.

We’ve considered the possibility that there is another periodic table of elements which are based on ΩOxygen. These atomic nuclei have no neutrons and the series includes elements like the transparent gold used to create the new Jerusalem. This series of elements, and the compounds derived from them, were repelled by the force of gravity and crystallized as the firmament, a rigid sphere of layered construction on the edge of space. This is also why in scripture establishing the foundations of the earth and spreading out the heavens are synchronous. They are the two opposite reactions to the creation of gravity.

Indeed My hand has laid the foundation of the earth, And My right hand has stretched out the heavens; When I call to them, They stand up together.

(Isaiah 48:13) NKJV

The separation of light from darkness by the creation of gravity gives us a way to understand a lot of things in the Bible. Like how could light be stretched out like a garment?

Praise the Lord, my soul!
O Lord, my God, how great you are!
You are clothed with majesty and glory;
you cover yourself with light.
You have spread out the heavens like a tent

(Psalms 104:1-2) Good News Translation

This is not just flowery poetic language, it’s an example of Hypothesis 22.

Predictive Testable Hypothesis 22

  • IF the Holy Spirit is the power of God to inspire human writers,
    • AND the physics of the universe has been written in scripture so that it’s
      1. obvious and
      2. invisible,
  • THEN phrases or words that look like chemistry, physics, biology or geology should be treated as if they are chemistry, physics, biology or geology,
    • AND the science will be congruent with the scriptural context.

The creation of gravity gives us a physical force that causes this to be a physical reality. It gives us a mechanism for the formation of the firmament and now we know why it shines brightly.

And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

(Daniel 12:3) KJV
