What does it mean that there was no death before sin? There are a couple of issues here: 1) What is life? 2) What is dying?
Dying You Shall Die
We resolve the apparent conflict between what God said would happen to Adam, vs. what actually happened to Adam, when he ate the fruit of the tree of knowledge.

"in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die." Adam didn't drop dead the moment that he ate the fruit, a possible meaning of the text. He lived for 900+ years. Is this a contradiction?
