And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts;(2 Peter 1:19) NKJV
Venus may have been the source of the fire and brimstone which destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. It may also have been the source of the hail mingled with fire in the Exodus. Any time fire fell from heaven, that’s what Venus is for.
Venus has a somewhat checkered past given that it was an unwitting accomplice to Galileo’s sleight-of-hand which has lead to most of the world being deluded into thinking that the heliocentric theory disproves geocentrism.
When Galileo made his observations of the phases of Venus, or the moons of Jupiter, he was pitted against a religious establishment that was just as clueless then as most atheists are today.
It’s not possible to disprove the Geocentric system, we live in a full-size scale model of one. We call it Geocentrospheric, to make a clear distinction between the revealed truth of God vs. the flat earth insanity.
Heliocentric or Geocentrospheric?
- IF you were on the Sun you’d be observing heliocentricity,
- SINCE you’re not, you’re on the Earth, you’re observing Geocentrosphericity.
Velikovsky also made ample use of Venus as a plot device in his narrative. Supposedly Venus was an errant comet which was traveling through our solar system until it was captured by the gravity of the Earth. In this scenario it made a close pass of the Earth causing the plagues associated with the Exodus of the children of Israel from Egypt.
Velikovsky invokes the planet Venus in an intricate and remarkable way. He relates a wide variety of historical sources from all over the world in an attempt to show that the plagues of the Exodus were world-wide and remembered in many cultures. The problem is that he’s trying to use the Exodus to account for the great flood of Noah and Peleg’s tectonics so it’s a confusing jumble. Velikovsky’s passion and excitement comes through in his writing though, and his knowledge of the source material is outstanding.
Velikovsky attributes several of the plagues to the planet Venus but he also goes on to suggest that it could have been the source of the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night which lead the children of Israel through the wilderness for 40 years. He also makes the suggestion that petrochemical vapors from Venus were the source of the manna that the Israelites collected to eat everyday. It really is an incredible attempt to rationalize supernatural phenomena as completely natural.
Those of us who have faith in the Bible have life so much easier. We can simply believe what the Bible says and not really worry about the details. Popular science (SciPop) has a pretty easy time of it too, it can just deny that the Exodus happened.
The Conquest of Canaan
Venus then made another close pass 52 years later when Joshua led the Israelites on the conquest of Canaan, causing the hail of meteorites and the phenomenon of the sun and moon being motionless in the sky.
The Lake of Fire
The eternal torment referred to by the Bible isn’t in hell, it’s in a lake of fire and brimstone in outer darkness.
We have proposed a candidate for the identity of the lake of fire: the planet Venus.
Venus is the hottest world in the solar system. Although Venus is not the planet closest to the sun, its dense atmosphere traps heat in a runaway version of the greenhouse effect that warms Earth. As a result, temperatures on Venus reach 870 degrees Fahrenheit (465 degrees Celsius), more than hot enough to melt lead. Probes that scientists have landed there have survived only a few hours before being destroyed.– space.com
It really makes sense. If Venus is the lake of fire, and it’s physical characteristics are that of a lake of fire burning with brimstone, then the beast and the false prophet can be cast in at any time. Later, when Satan, death and hell are cast in at the final judgement it can be sent spinning into the void. Lost forever.
