Evidence for Evolution

And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

(Acts 2:19) KJV

Evolution is an extensively documented process of genetic change over time. Arguing against it makes Christians look like ignorant home-schooled, knuckle-dragging morons. Sorry for being blunt, that’s just how it is.

There are many definitions of Evolution in use by the scientific community. Here’s the most boiled-down variant possible:

Evolution is change in allele frequency in a population over time.

– Evolution, definition

The evidence for evolution is everywhere, it’s happening on a daily basis. Some Christians are finally getting on board with the idea that adaptation is taking place. Adaptation is their word for what everyone else calls evolution. Some people want to squirm around a distinction between micro and macro evolution but it’s pointless.

The nuance that we need to understand is that even though the evidence for evolution, according to the above definition, is extensively documented it’s not proof of the evolutionary origin of humanity. Divide and conquer. The thing which we have called evolution is, like so many other things, a mixture of truth and error.
