The Four Corners of the Earth

And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

(Isaiah 11:12) KJV

The phrase “the four corners of the earth” occurs a few times in scripture but every time it’s in the context of the millennial kingdom, it’s never used in any other context.

We’re going to find that a nuance like this makes all the difference in the world. We’ve already established the spherical nature of the Earth from 1) direct observation, 2) scripture, and 3) we can deduce that sphericity is inherent to our core accretion model of planet formation in response to the creation of gravity on the second day.

When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:

(Proverbs 8:27) KJV

There’s a side effect to the creation of gravity that’s going to upset some people: if the Earth formed around a gravitational singularity then it’s spherical. It’s impossible for the Earth to be flat.

a drawing compass and the creation of gravity on the second day
My hand also has laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand has spanned the heavens: when I call them, they stand up together. (Isaiah 48:13)

The doctrine of gravity is extensively developed throughout scripture and it allows us to develop a unified theory of everything.

A Unified Theory of Everything

  1. First cause
  2. Time
  3. Gravitation
  4. Electromagnetism (a unified field theory)
  5. Consciousness
  6. Redemption

To insist on inducing a rationalization of a phrase which has been taken out of context, and then failing to understand the nuance in the words, is unfortunate, but it’s out there.

But back to our discussion of “the four corners of the earth.” There are a couple of things to understand about the way in which this phrase is used: context and nuance.

Context: Every time that this phrase occurs it’s in the context of the millennial kingdom. At that time the surface of the Earth will undergo tectonic upheaval and the resultant super-continent will have corners.

Nuance: If, as flat earthers say, this passage means that the Earth has to be a flat square, they now have to make the case that human heads are also square.

Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.

(Leviticus 19:27) KJV
