Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.(Colossians 2:8) KJV
Most people who develop models of earth that account for the physical features of earth mentioned in the Bible come up with variations on this theme.
Sadly, it seems quite a lot of folk are convinced that the Bible teaches that the earth is flat. There isn’t even one passage in the whole Bible that says the earth is flat. Not one. The problem lies in a failure to understand what parts of the Bible are intended to be taken literally, and which are figurative. Correctly discerning which is which, figurative or literal, is a critical skill in the proper handling of the scriptures.
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.(2 Timothy 2:15) KJV
In order to rightly divide the word of truth we have to understand the broad narrative of scripture, not just a few odd passages. This is so that, from beginning to end, the story it tells us is consistent with what we know about the character and nature of God. And how do we know the character and nature of God? By studying the scriptures. Understanding can’t be reached by zeroing in on a passage or two and holding them up as an example of something that we have decided to believe. That’s called eisegesis. In science it’s called inductive reasoning.
Where is Jerusalem?
If flat earth is Biblical then Jerusalem should be at the center.
We explain why in the post for March 7th.
The Mind of Christ
For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.(1 Corinthians 2:16) KJV
Understanding the character and nature of God, or the mind of Christ, has to start with salvation. Salvation is submitting yourself to God. It is accepting that we (and that means me) are sinners and we have come under the judgment of God. God’s righteousness is such that we have fallen short of it, and we are destined to spend an eternity forever separated from Him. Once we submit ourselves to God, through repentance of our sin and by trusting in Jesus Christ as our savior, we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth. This is where we find discernment.
We have seen some folk claim that the Holy Spirit led them to understand that the Bible teaches a flat earth. Is the earth flat? NO. Flat earth is obviously wrong.
Clearly the Earth isn’t flat, God doesn’t expect you to believe something that’s obviously wrong.
So how do we understand the broad narrative of scripture to be teaching us about a spherical earth? We can’t remember exactly when it happened, but we know that we were on our knees praying, probably in about 2002, asking the Lord for understanding of the 2nd day of creation. It occurred to us, by the Holy Spirit, that the creation of gravity would accomplish the ordering of creation it describes. Subsequent study led us to realize that it’s not only consistent with the broad narrative of scripture, but also gives us a way to account for all physical evidence. This firmly establishes that the creation is earth-centered.
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.(James 1:6) KJV
This is the point where we remember wavering, because we realized that as soon as we start talking about a central earth people are going to dismiss me as a kook.
And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad.(Acts 26:24) KJV
However, then we realized that being dismissed as a kook would be a fulfillment of Biblical prophesy and so we went all-in with the concept of Geocentrosphericity. Here’s the thing that happened next: by committing to an earth-centered model we had to understand why humanity has wholeheartedly accepted a sun-centered model (heliocentric), and what is the theoretical basis of the heliocentric model.
Here’s some logic for you: If God is true and the Bible is 100% trustworthy, and the Bible meticulously and irrevocably builds for us an earth centered creation, then therefore everything that is used as evidence for an heliocentric system can also be shown to be evidence for the Geocentrospheric system.
Supposed Proofs of Heliocentricity
- Aberration of starlight
- Aether drag
- Angular size of the sun
- Bessel and 61 Cygni
- Bradley and Molyneux
- Citing incorrect Geocentric models
- Coriolis effect
- Doppler and the Voyagers
- Foucault pendulum
- Gravitational assists
- Kepler’s Laws
- Lorentz’ length contraction
- Luminiferous aether
- Mass of the sun / Newtonian physics
- Moons of Jupiter
- Phases of Venus
- Procession of the equinoxes
- Redshift / Universe expansion
- Relativistic reference frames
- Retrograde / relative motion
- Seasons and weather
- Special relativity
- Stellar parallax
- Stellar spectroscopy
- Transit of the ISS during an eclipse
- Transit of Venus
- Variation in the sun’s orbital radius
Guess what? They all can be. This is exegesis, also called deductive reasoning.

A cure for the plague
- Accept Jesus Christ as your savior,
- confess your sin.
- On your knees,
- put your head to the ground (if you can)
- chant the name Jesus, Jesus, Jesus….
- until you feel a burning sensation in the affected area
- flush the affected area with cold water, no soap
- dry the affected area with a clean towel
- get some rest.
- Repeat as needed.
