Strengthened: בַּ֝עֲז֗וֹז – baazoz

When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:

(Proverbs 8:28) KJV

When we look at the Hebrew word translated as strengthened we find an example of the theologians of yesteryear fudging their data. The word has been assigned to the root עָזַז – azaz, no doubt because it makes sense.

Unfortunately we have a problem with spelling. The initial letter בַּ֝ beth is considered to be a modifier and is conveniently ignored.

  • עָזַז – aw-zaz
  • בַּ֝עֲז֗וֹז – ba·‘ă·zō·wz

The root azaz has meaning which fits the context, but it’s lacking in nuance. If we search for the word as it’s spelled, with its initial בַּ֝, we find something interesting. The word is listed under the root בָּעָה – baah meaning to inquire, cause to swell or boil up.

Strengthened: בַּ֝עֲז֗וֹז – baazoz

  • I. to make to swell, boil up, Is 64:1
  • II. to seek, ask, request.
  • Niph.
    • I. to swell out, Is. 30:13
    • II. to be sought out, Obad. 6.

If molten lava or magma was used to seal up the fountains of the great deep after the waters below the firmament drained through them into the great gulf inside the Earth, then this would be why a mist rose up on the third day, only it wasn’t mist it was steam.

March 8th – What sealed the fountains of the great deep?

Hydrology Deduction 6: Something sealed shut the fountains of the great deep at the end of the third day.
