According to the Pattern

Every high priest is appointed to present offerings and animal sacrifices to God, and so our High Priest must also have something to offer. If he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, since there are priests who offer the gifts required by the Jewish Law. The work they do as priests is really only a copy and a shadow of what is in heaven. It is the same as it was with Moses. When he was about to build the Sacred Tent, God told him, โ€œBe sure to make everything according to the pattern you were shown on the mountain.โ€

(Hebrews 8:3-5) GNT

Things on Earth are patterned after, or copies of, things in heaven. We’re adding levels of complexity in both biological development and Levitical duties.

Ceremonial Complexity

The ceremonial duties that were assigned to the priests, their clothing, the appointed feasts and festivals, all represent heavenly things. In the Church age, the age of grace in which we live, ritual sacrifices aren’t necessary because Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross fulfilled the need for them. We don’t have to offer up a lamb to pay for our sin, we only have to call upon the name of Jesus Christ.

This is the reason why annual feasts, rituals and ceremonies form the basis of the Church calendar. Depending on the denomination there is more or less emphasis on the ceremonial, but they all serve as important reminders throughout the year of the life and work of Jesus Christ, our savior.

Biological Complexity

There’s another level of patterning in creation which starts with elementary particles. The patterns, once we know them, serve as a confirmation of the truth of what we believe: God created the universe with a wisdom which surpasses anything that we’re able to comprehend. We (that’s me and the Holy spirit) draw equivalence between the logical steps in building the Physics of creation with the life and work of Christ, because things on Earth are copied from things in the heavens.

We can go deeper. Godโ€™s command, Let there be light, was possible because there was a supply of Hydrogen atoms which could be fused together. The Hydrogen atoms were available to do work. That’s a physics euphemism for a source of energy that allows other things to happen. This is highly significant.

Hydrogen atoms (H+) are necessary for nucleosynthesis, but also for life. If we said that all metabolism is based on a process that produces a supply of H+ it wouldn’t be an exaggeration. How is it possible to use Hydrogen to power metabolism? There are a few steps involved, but the Biological sciences have done a great job of figuring them out. They call it the theory of Abiogenesis. For us this includes everything that happened on the six days of creation. After the fall of man in Genesis 3, evolution took over.

On the first day we are in an aqueous environment which is Zero-G. The periodic table of elements has been established and now atoms and molecules are bouncing around having reactions all over the place. The rapid development of Biological life is made possible by membranes, which had to have been created in the earliest phases of molecular development. They allow reagents to be kept together, rather than being dispersed.

With membranes come a variety of sub-cellular organelles like chloroplasts and mitochondria. Chloroplasts are where Photosynthesis takes place, and the structure of the Chlorophyll molecule connects us back to gender.
