A recurring theme in scripture is heaven above and Earth below. Orientation occurs for the first time on the second day. It's an ordering of the universe which occurred in response to the creation of gravity.

P-waves travel through vapor so what SciPop calls the "liquid outer core," can actually be open space. Jesus called it a "great gulf," in the parable of the rich man and Lazarus.

In the atheist human origins narrative (SciPop) there's no hell, or a great gulf of open space inside the Earth, because it's trying to be a logical antidote to guilt, the fear of judgment, and eternal torment.
