When we combine a plain reading of the texts with deductive logic is is easy to show that Jesus Christ, the Word and "the deep" are all synonyms for the Son of God.

The Word is Water
We (that's me and the Holy spirit) deduce the true nature of water. It's safe to say, which is to say it's Biblically accurate, that water existed before God began the work of creation.

When the Bible refers to living creatures that have life, it's referring to a sentient being which has a spirit and a soul. It's not equivalent to the biological definition of life.

The Bible describes a sequential process of creating life by sphere: hydrosphere, lithosphere, firmasphere, atmosphere and biosphere.
