Genesis 2:15-17 describes events of the sixth day. It gives us an example of superficial theology. Apparently God lied because Adam didn't immediately drop dead when he ate the forbidden fruit.

You Shall Die of Dying
Did the curse on the serpent happen immediately, or did it occur in the first generation of offspring? Since we don't know for sure let's consider what God said to Adam about the tree of knowledge.
June 25th
"in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die." Adam didn't drop dead the moment that he ate the fruit, a possible meaning of the text. He lived for 900+ years. Is this a contradiction?
Evolution or Jesus?
Evolution is the passage of heritable traits from generation to generation, it requires billions of years of death and dying before humans could sin. The Bible says that there was no death before sin.
