And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
(Genesis 1:6-8) KJV
The firmament, third heaven, originally had a portion of the deep covering its outer surface. At the time of Noah’s flood the windows of heaven opened and the water poured through and flooded the Earth.
The firmament is referred to in scripture as heaven, the heaven of heavens, and the third heaven. It’s equivalent to the sea of glass in Revelation 4 and 15, and is the location of the windows of heaven in Genesis 7 and 8. If the firmament is a rigid crystalline structure then the “windows of heaven” isn’t a metaphor for something spiritual, they are physical structures.
Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens.
(Psalms 148:4) KJV
- The water below the firmament brings forth the Earth on the third day.
- The water above the firmament was used to flood the earth in the time of Noah.
We found evidence of them in the Iridium layer which has world-wide distribution at the Cretaceous/Tertiary Boundary. This was when the 40 days and nights of rain ended. The windows of heaven closed, causing the deposition of a layer of iridium, grains of shocked quartz, and rolled glass beads. The flood waters stayed on the Earth for about a year, causing the deposition of sediment on top of the Iridium layer.

September 24th – The Star of Bethlehem
The third heaven is a physical structure made of layered crystal and it’s the origin of the Star of Bethlehem.
