Understanding how the process of evolution incorporates into the creation narrative solves a lot of issues, not the least of which is the potential space problem on Noah’s ark.
Atheist science trolls (ASTs) have a lot of fun with their projections about how big the ark would have to be to accommodate two each of the 400,000 animal species on Earth. It didn’t need to. What you may or may not know is that “species” is a human concept which is designed for the purpose of organizing information (systematics or taxonomy).
A species is the smallest amount of variability across populations of an organism which a) can’t interbreed with anything else, but b) are capable of breeding with themselves.

You may or may not know that the scientific community has been haggling the details of species concepts for centuries. It’s not a fixed edifice in the stronghold of popular science (SciPop). Whether you like it or hate it, SciPop is a stronghold and we’re SUPPOSED to pull it down.
The use of cladistic phylogenetic analysis has driven the development of a phylogenetic species concept, where the species is the terminal node in a phylogenetic tree which is based on DNA sequences. Even this isn’t clear cut, and folks are still in the weeds haggling the details. The cool thing is that God didn’t create species, he created KINDS.
A KIND is a mating pair of individuals with the potential genetic variability to give rise to whole families and genera. KINDS give rise to species through the process of devolution.

Here’s our rationale: two animals of a KIND give rise to offspring which reproduce to form a large population. This is affected by circumstances somehow and gets split between separate geographic locations (like when the tectonic plates formed and the continents drifted apart). These separate populations are pools of genetic diversity which diverge from each other over time because of devolution, so much so that eventually a new population can no longer interbreed with it’s sister or the parental population. It has become a species. KINDS give rise to species.
Devolution is change in allele frequency in a population, combined with accumulated mutations and DNA replication errors, that causes genomic decay, sickness, and loss of variability over time. It includes both macro and micro evolution. It began at the fall of man in Genesis 3:16.

Now at this point we wouldn’t be surprised if someone popped up and started yelling about the immutability of species, but that’s not a scientific concept which carries any validity and neither can such a concept be found in scripture. It’s irrelevant. If they show up tell them that they missed the 19th Century by quite a ways. Perhaps the strongholds of Christian education can sell them the warehouses of now worthless educational material they’re peddling.
