If the World Hates You

“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

(John 15:18-19) NKJV

This date in 2019 an atheist tweeted three Bible verses at us (that’s me and the Holy spirit) as an accusation. The accusation was that we’re not only wrong, but condemned to hell because of what we’re doing. The irony is palpable.

This is beyond ironic because, supposedly, the atheist doesn’t believe in the authority of scripture therefore any application of whether any of it is right or wrong is moot. The atheist doesn’t believe in hell so why would anyone go there? There’s a cognitive dissonance in play here and we can only hope to sow some seeds to an individual like this, pray, and let the Lord do a work in their life.

Atheism isn’t Intellectually Viable: 2

  1. Why is the Bible suddenly authoritative,
    • now that you want to use it to accuse us of failing to comply with it.?
  2. IF the Bible is true,
    • SUCH that we are guilty as you claim,
      • IS the rest of the Bible true now too?
  3. If the Bible is true then God exists,
    • Congratulations, you just annihilated atheism.

We’ll briefly consider each of the passages that we received as threats from our confused atheist accuser.

Looking at this again, in 2022 post-ongoing-COVID, brings with it a tinge of something but we’re not sure what. Back then our whole life was Twitter and arguing with atheists every day. It was no surprise that they hated us, we expected it. Since then we’ve broadened our social outreach considerably and face the same kind of hate no matter where we go. So, it’s not just Twitter.

Salvation

  1. Call upon the name of Jesus Christ,
    • believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead,
  2. confess your sin.
