Truth is Light, Darkness is Evil

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

(John 3:16) KJV

It’s ironic that the period of history that brought us the scientific advances of Galileo, Kepler and Newton is called The Enlightenment, because this was when the human race plunged into darkness.

Arguably the most well-known verse in the whole Bible is John 3:16. Interestingly this comes in the context of a very clear statement about the opposing natures of light and darkness.

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

(John 3:19-21) KJV

We’re to understand that light came into the world, this being in the person of Jesus Christ. He is the light of the world, the truth incarnate.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

(John 1:14) KJV

And again:

I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

(John 9:4-5) KJV

We know, however, that he was rejected by the people of his time. He has been rejected ever since and he is rejected by many today. For our devotional today it is important to understand the equivalence of light and truth, and the equivalence of darkness and evil. That which is not light, is dark. Therefore, that which is not truth, is evil. This brings me to the point we want to make today as a series of logic statements in a process of deductive reasoning. FYI we refer to popular science as SciPop.

Deductive Reasoning, examples

1. • IF God can’t lie,
   • THEN the Bible is true.
2. • IF the Bible is true,
   • THEN Jesus Christ is the living embodiment of truth,
     • AND the Holy Spirit is its agent at work in the world today.
3. • IF popular science (SciPop) is an inductive rationalization of our existence which has
     • no creator,
     • no need of a savior,
     • no spiritual realm,
     • and questions the historical validity of Jesus Christ,
   • THEN SciPop isn’t truth.

We looked for a definition of the word Science until we found one which includes the word truth because most don’t:

Science is a branch of knowledge or study dealing with a body of facts or truths systematically arranged and showing the operation of general laws: the mathematical sciences, systematic knowledge of the physical or material world gained through observation and experimentation, any of the branches of natural or physical science.

Notice that the definition uses the plural of the word, truths, which appears to be referring to subjective truth which is whatever SciPop wants it to be. That’s the thing about scientific truth, it’s not actually true because any new discovery or the development of new technology could change it. SciPop bends and flexes in order to accommodate anything new or different into it’s narrative of godless existence. In fact, there can’t be truth, because that would be immovable and merely a hindrance to the development of the narrative. Indeed, the scientific method is built on the notion of falsifiability.

Absolute truth can’t be falsified, if it could it wouldn’t be the truth, so it lies outside of the realm of SciPop. This should make it clear that scientific “ truths ” aren’t truth at all, they’re arbitrary data points placed strategically in a false narrative. Obviously this isn’t the same thing as absolute truth.

It’s clear that truth is not a SciPop possibility. The truth is neither testable nor falsifiable, therefore it’s unscientific and must be rejected.

The Logical Fallacy of “Scientific Truths”

• IF scientific truths are strategic data points placed to establish the popular science narrative of godless existence (SciPop),
  • BUT the universe exists because God created it,
• THEN SciPop isn’t truth.

Logically then, applying the light/truth and dark/evil equivalence:

Popular Science (SciPop) is Evil

• IF popular science (SciPop) isn’t the truth,
  • AND the truth is light,
• THEN SciPop is darkness,
  • AND darkness is evil.

But! we can hear the cries now, Science has brought us so many wonderful things, extended our life expectancy, improved our standard of living, brought us the iPhone and Uber and such technological marvels; how could it be evil? Quite simply because it has been expressly designed to deny the truth: God is our creator.
