Celestial Navigation

Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.

(Job 9:9) KJV

The Bible doesn’t describe a heliocentric system, but that’s okay because we don’t observe heliocentricity. It’s a theoretical interpretation of the empirical geocentrospheric reality: it’s imaginary.

Spoiler Alert: If you’re a Christian who’s trying to combine the Bible with heliocentricity, a.k.a. Solianity, then you’re in for a bumpy ride.

Predictive Testable Hypothesis 9

  • IF the Earth is at the center of the cosmos
    • AND the Sun, Moon and stars were set to mark signs and seasons,
  • THEN knowledge of the relative positions of the stars and planets will enable the observer to find his position on the earth.

We all have the same evidence. Our choice of paradigm determines what we think it’s evidence of.

Matty’s Razor

Navigation

And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

(Genesis 1:14) KJV

This is Creation Theory Predictive Testable Hypothesis 9

It has a positive result:

It’s called Celestial Navigation.

This is how Mary Blewitt describes celestial navigation in her book on the subject:

We navigate by means of the Sun, the Moon, the planets and the stars. Forget the Earth spinning around the Sun with the motionless stars infinite distances away, and imagine that the Earth is the center of the universe and that all of the heavenly bodies circle slowly round us, the stars keeping their relative position while the Sun, Moon and planets change their positions in relation to each other and to the stars. This pre-Copernican outlook comes easily as we watch the heavenly bodies rise and set, and is a help in practical navigation.

– Mary Blewitt, Celestial Navigation for Yachtsmen (1964)

Mary Blewitt was being circumspect when she wrote that, in keeping with the prevailing thought of our time. However it’s not necessary to imagine that the Earth is at the center of the universe, it’s empirical.

Faith is believing in something that you can’t see, because of evidence.

Constellations

Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?
Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons? Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?

(Job 38:31-33) KJV

If the Earth is in orbit around a star which is moving through space then why are the constellations still recognizable? Why haven’t they slid past us into the dim recesses of space? Why is it that the same constellations have been observed to orbit the Earth every day for millennia?

Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name.

(Amos 5:8) KJV

Why does it looks exactly like the Earth is at the center of the cosmos? Because the Earth is at the exact center of the cosmos.

The reason for creation is the manifestation of sentient life with free will.

Ecliptic

Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.

(Psalms 19:4-5) KJV

The ecliptic is the apparent path of the Sun. In the Geocentrospheric system it’s empirical. The Sun has a path because it’s moving. In heliocentricity the Sun isn’t supposed to have a path so it’s theoretical. However, the heliocentric system is described using the word ecliptic, even though the word ecliptic means that the sun is moving. It’s confusing. Some people are so confused that they try to disprove the Geocentrospheric system using a functioning model of a Geocentrospheric system.

The purpose of creation is to bring about the permanent physical separation of light from darkness, day from night, good from evil.

– The Purpose of Creation

The Sun Stood Still

Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.

(Joshua 10:12-14) KJV

Many people are familiar with the story of the sun standing still in the days of Joshua. If we have an ecliptic it’s really not a problem. In the heliocentric model this would mean that the earth stopped rotating. However, the Bible doesn’t say that the earth stood still, it says that the sun stood still. In Matty’s Paradigm the earth isn’t rotating and the sun is moving, so the sun literally stood still. Our model accommodates it and it’s not even ironic since the sun is said to be running a race every day.

Salvation

  1. Call upon the name of Jesus Christ,
    • believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead,
  2. confess your sin.

The Sun Went Backwards

And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of the LORD the third day? And Isaiah said, This sign shalt thou have of the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees? And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees. And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the LORD: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz.

(2 Kings 20:8-11) KJV

As familiar as the passage in Joshua may be, far fewer people are familiar with two passages which describe the sun going backwards:

And this shall be a sign unto thee from the LORD, that the LORD will do this thing that he hath spoken; Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down.

(Isaiah 38:7-8) KJV

In the heliocentric model the earth stopped rotating, reversed direction, then stopped, then reversed direction. The surface of the earth decelerated from rotating at 1,000 mph to 0 mph. Then it rotated in the opposite direction for 10 degrees. Finally the earth accelerates back to its normal 1,000 mph. All this has to happen in the space of less than an hour. There’s no mention of the physical catastrophes of plate tectonics and weather which would occur if this took place. This is what you’re stuck dealing with if you want to believe the Bible in a heliocentric paradigm.

The Bible doesn’t describe a heliocentric system, but that’s okay because we don’t observe heliocentricity. It’s a theoretical interpretation of the empirical Geocentrospheric reality: it’s imaginary.
