And Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the LORD will work for us: for there is no restraint to the LORD to save by many or by few. And his armourbearer said unto him, Do all that is in thine heart: turn thee; behold, I am with thee according to thy heart.
(1 Samuel 14:7) KJV
We can sort the characteristics of the heart into thoughts and Intents and expand our understanding of Who Am I? Thoughts, quite naturally, stay in the mind. Intents are when we’re driven or motivated to act. We may or may not carry out the act, but it was an intent.
Heart, Characteristics
Aspect | Attribute | Trait | Characteristic | Scripture |
Soul | Heart | Thoughts | Bitterness Covetousness Evil eye Evil thoughts Imagination Wisdom Pride Trembling (fear) | Genesis 8:21 Deuteronomy 28:65 Proverbs 2:10 Ezekiel 27:31 Matthew 15:19 Mark 7:21-22 |
Soul | Heart | Intents | Adulteries Blasphemies Deceit False witness Foolishness Fornications Lasciviousness Murders Thefts Wickedness | Isaiah 44:21 Jeremiah 17:9 Matthew 15:19 Mark 7:21-22 |
Sorting characteristics into thoughts and intents is an example of separation, and this has profound significance in God’s will and the plan of redemption.
