Keep the Sayings of This Book
And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.
(Revelation 22:8-9) KJV
The Bible tells us to ponder and meditate on its sayings. Can you think of ways in which keeping any of the sayings of the Bible has helped you this year?
We, that’s me and the Holy spirit, are tracking how specific sayings of the Bible, or the meaning of passages, has helped us during the past year. We feel so isolated and exposed at times that the words of the Bible become a lifeline that we cling to. There’s always a beneficial result, even if it’s just the re-centering of our inner peace: look to Jesus. It lightens our countenance and helps us to soldier on. We also need a measure of our growth or to catch ourselves if we’re backsliding.
The Bible is a big book. It has a lot of sayings in it. How do we keep them all? By being specific to our circumstances. We all deal with a variety of issues during the course of a year. Each year we pass milestones in our personal development which, if we pay attention and learn the lessons we are supposed to learn, we can build on and grow.
Can you think of ways in which keeping sayings of the Bible has helped you this year? What stands out from 2022 of an example of keeping the sayings in this book?
Obviously 2020 will forever be remembered for COVID-19 and the impact that this has had on peoples lives. Our life took an unexpected turn when the schools closed and we found ourselves at home with a child who has been distance learning since March. We’re fortunate in so many ways but one of them is the discipline which we’ve built up around prayer, Bible reading, Bible study and blogging. We adapted to our new life with ease.
During the course of the year we expanded our theory of gravitation to encompass what’s known as quantum gravity. We also began to incorporate a theory of time and consciousness into what has become a unified theory of everything.
A Unified Theory of Everything
- First cause
- Time
- Gravitation
- Electromagnetism (a unified field theory)
- Consciousness
- Redemption
If there’s one thing which stands out it was finding, during daily Bible reading, a passage which brought up the issue of whether or not our work is a godly pursuit or an outgrowth of rebellion. Does rebelling against peer review have value to the people of God or is it an unnecessary distraction? We picked our way through the issue and concluded that we were on the right track, this work is timely and will be of value, even thought it may not be realized for a while.
