It sounds like a script for an episode of Star Trek or an entry in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. However, this is our reality. We still haven't unraveled the mystery of what water IS though.
Desires of Thine Heart
Can a desire of the heart be a godly thing? How can we have a godly desire if we're told a) not to covet and b) that our optimal state of mind should be contentment?

The condition of our heart reflects our relationship with God, both spiritually and physically. God is good to them that have a clean heart, so how do we make our heart clean?

We (that's me and the Holy spirit) are investigating attributes of life in order to deduce its nature. The soul is distinct from the spirit: the spirit is the essence of life which powers metabolism, the soul is our self-awareness and personality.

The soul encompasses the aspects of heart, soul and mind: our self-awareness. The mind gives us grief, sorrow and knowledge of the law: all things that require understanding.

When the Bible refers to living creatures that have life, it's referring to a sentient being which has a spirit and a soul. It's not equivalent to the biological definition of life.
Effect, Cause and the Reprobate Mind
The "reprobate mind," in Romans 1:28 is a consequence of rejecting the relationship between cause and effect. It manifests as a refusal to acknowledge the relationship between behavior and consequences.

Overcoming is when we allow the Word of God to change us and make us more like the Lord. It's when we realize that there is no spoon.
